Do you commute by bike? How often?
No, I don’t commute by bike. I work at night.
Do you ride recreationally? How far?
Yes, mostly around my neighborhood. An honest answer is about 10 miles a week. But I have a new bike and plan to be riding more.
What is your favorite route?
Miner’s Ravine is always beautiful. Another favorite is down Douglas to Joe Roger’s to Itchy Acres. We often ride through Maidu Park. My husband and I often combine biking and bird watching.
How do you like riding in Roseville?
I think Roseville has done a good job of making bike lanes on many streets.
If you could fix two things immediately, what would they be?
Make intersections more bike friendly. It is often hard to trip the light and then have enough time to get through the intersection. I usually push the pedestrian button and cross in the crosswalk because the pedestrian light gives me enough time.
The second thing would be to make the shopping center on Roseville Parkway accessible from the Miner’s Ravine trail. There is no way to get to the restaurants, shops and Starbucks.
Have you found BikingRoseville to be useful?
Yes. I appreciate keeping up on what the city is doing. I also want to take the street cycling class when it is offered again.
Do you ride in the winter? If so what clothing do you use?
Yes. I just use lots of layers. Wool bike socks. Long pant liners and warm up pants. Two layers and a sweater under my bike jacket. Gloves and a muffler wrapped around my head and neck. Helmet. Not pretty, but at least I’m biking.
Do you ride in the dark? If so, what equipment do you use?
I try not to. I do have a light on my bike.
