Do you commute by bike? How often?

I commute by bike 16 miles each way from North Natomas to central Roseville about 3 times per week.

Do you ride recreationally? How far?

I try to put in about 100 miles on the weekends starting in the spring and continue thru the fall. Off-season I only ride about 30 miles on the weekends.

What is your favorite route?

There are too many. Around Lake Tahoe is my favorite, but closer by is the trip thru the Auburn Canyon, up to Foresthill and a side trip to Lake Clementine.

How do you like riding in Roseville?

I don’t. I only do it because I have to get to work.

What would be your main priority to fix?

The road shoulder at Old Roseville Road just south of the Cirby intersection.

Do you ride in the winter? If so what clothing do you use?

Yes, I very much enjoy riding in the cold. In fact, I rode in today and it was 25-27 degrees. I wear full finger gloves from Performance Bike, balaclava, riding shorts with full length cycling tights with wind panels, short sleeve jersey with Nike wool cycling jacket with wind panels, neoprene toe covers on my cycling shoes, glasses with rear view mirror and of course my helmet – always.

Do you ride in the dark? If so, what equipment do you use?

I ride in the dark during late fall, winter and early spring. I use a 15watt Nightrider headlight mounted on my handlebars, a DiNotte 5watt LED that uses four AA batteries that I would highly recommend, a very bright red LED rear light, a bar-end LED red light, and a reflective leg band. With this amount of lighting, I can safely travel 25 mph on Elkhorn Blvd. that has no streetlighting.
