Do you commute by bike? How often?

Typically three days a week from Citrus Heights to Intel (Folsom), as it warms I will go back to 4 days.

Do you ride recreationally? How far?

I try to do 40 – 60 miles on weekends, normally to Lincoln or Auburn and do a Club sponsored Metric Century (rode the GIRO D’VINO 100K in Lodi last year and I am signed up for the Party Pardee 100K In Ione April 7th). I have been riding for almost a year; my goal was to do 62 miles on my 62nd birthday Jun 1, 2006, which I did. It is all fun and health now, and hopefully, will drop some more weight so I can enjoy the hills more. Thus far I haven’t met a hill I like. LOL. I have become addicted to riding, and fully subscribe to the number of bikes one needs is best defined by:

n=b+1 where b= number you currently have.

What is your favorite route?

Citrus Heights to Sierra College Blvd to Taylor road to Newcastle to Auburn and back. Some times will continue to Folsom and bike path to Old town and then back to Citrus Heights for 90 miles. Lot of options on return from Auburn, depending how strong I feel. LOL

How do you like riding in Roseville?

Other than Douglas and Sierra College, I don’t ride much in Roseville. – Lots of traffic, and Cirby is crazy.

If you could fix two things immediately, what would they be?

Give all cyclists  a remote to  activate  the Left Turn Light, and Sweep the Bicycle lanes more often. There are some really dirty roads out there...

Do you ride in the winter? If so what clothing do you use?

I have set 34 degrees as my ride cut-off limit. Below that with wind chill it is just not fun. I wear knee warmers under long tights, toe cover over my shoes , and ankle warmers. On top normally three to four layers, and double full finger gloves and face mask. I am normally on the road at 5:00 to 6:10 AM (Very dark and the coldest part of the morning).

Do you ride in the dark? If so, what equipment do you use?

I have two bikes setup for night riding, full reflectors, including ankle reflectors  and at least two front lights, helmet light. I have two rear lights, one on bike, one my back pack and an additional red  flashing light on my left upper arm. If you don’t see me you must be blind. LOL.
